About Us...
Background
In late 1997, a housing task force was formed as part of the Columbus Community
Vision process. Recognizing the need for an organized effort in the affordable
housing arena in Columbus, NeighborWorks® Columbus was established in 1998.
NeighborWorks® Columbus, a private nonprofit community-based housing development
organization, is a Georgia Corporation and was granted 501(c)(3) status by the
Internal Revenue Service in November 1999.

NeighborWorks® Columbus is a strong advocate of the idea that the quality of
life in a community begins with fit and affordable housing as its foundation.
NeighborWorks® Columbus is on the cutting edge of innovations in financing,
rehabilitation, land use and pre-purchase counseling. One of the most important
aspects of the work is home purchase education that produces mortgage-ready
homebuyers and lifelong homeowners.
